How will lifestyle medicine help me?
Your body is very capable of looking after your health and wellbeing. Lifestyle medicine helps you fine tune your diet and lifestyle without over-compromising to enjoy quality of life whilst optimising medication use (if applicable). As everyone is genetically unique with variable personal preferences, our team helps you find the key to the lock in finding a sustainable lifestyle, enabling you to enjoy good health.
Who should I see first?
We recommend seeing Dr. Olivia first, if you're needing a full health and wellbeing assessment, medical advice and oversight to your health and wellbeing.
We recommend seeing Bank first, if you just need consistency to help implement diet and lifestyle changes and practical tips on "how-to" to implement the many advice you've received on eating, moving, sleeping and self-care better!
Can I sign up to a health improvement programme without an initial consultation?
We encourage an initial consultation first as our health improvement programmes are at least 6 months long.
BUT, if you know what you want/need, and you are happy to have the consistency and accountability as part of your new routine, a health improvement programme is ideal! We are also currently most affordable in Christchurch for what is offered. The programmes include regular nutrition, exercise and medical appointments at 1-2 week intervals.
What can I expect from a health improvement programme?
These are packaged set of appointments at 1-2 weekly intervals, with commitment for a total of 6 months. Most clients will require an appointment once or twice a week initially. These appointments will then be spaced out between 1 to 3 weeks over time. These are usually alternating with exercise, nutrition and medical appointments, and it will always equate to the amount of due for casual appointments plus a couple of bonus appointments! For example, for 6 months, you will have monthly doctor appointments and 10 to 12 coaching sessions. Alternately, you may have 25 health coaching sessions!
With regards to results, it's the long game we are more interested in! In the short term, and when compared to our casual clients, clients on a health improvement programme have triglyceride levels (cholesterol) 33% lower, reduce their body fat percentage 4 times faster, and reduced their hip circumference by 6cm more in the same 6 months period.
Do you offer discounts?
We don't and we do! We commit to the bonus appointments in the health improvement programmes to help you achieve your health goals. For clients with gold card, community services card, on ACC and on WINZ, we offer the full service in the pricing of the tier below. For example, such clients will be able to commit to Revitalise Me at the Optimise Me price.
Various non-government organisations can be open to funding your programme for you. Don't hesitate to reach out! We enjoy working with people from all walks of life.
What tests do you offer?
All initial doctor appointments will include a review of your existing lab work and a body composition. Further blood tests and investigations may be required following the initial appointment with a 30 minute follow up appointment about 1-2 weeks after. Dr. Olivia may sometimes request additional functional tests (e.g. Libre sensor continuous glucose monitoring, stress ECG, microbiome test, DUTCH hormone tests) but will discuss the indication with you first. These will incur additional fees.
