Real Healthy Me
Lifestyle Medicine Clinic
REAL HEALTHY ME is a lifestyle medicine clinic based in Christchurch, New Zealand and also available to you virtually anywhere via telemedicine!
We are a team of a medical doctor, dietitian, pharmacist, nutritionist, mental health nurses, clinical exercise physiologist and health coaches.
We provide one-on-one consultations and team-based individualised health coaching programmes to help you improve your health. We respect and cater to your dietary, fitness regimen, sleep, and work-life balance and is not specific to plant-based, keto, low carb, intermittent fasting, or other dietary habits (EVERYONE is DIFFERENT!). Whilst our prescriptions might fit some of these boxes, the aim is to help you improve your health sustainably and reverse and remission chronic health conditions not limited to type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and others. Weight loss is a side effect of health improvement, and we see this commonly.
The desired outcome is for you to achieve your purpose in life without being limited by your health.
We work with you in health, for health.
Why we exist
A video about why we exist
Lifestyle medicine is a practical specialty that bridges health promotion, primary disease prevention and chronic disease management. Eggar et. al (2017) defined it as an interdisciplinary approach for disease management and reversal through diet and lifestyle modification.
In short, we work with you to help you regain your health through what you do every day - eating, exercising, sleeping, thinking, and connecting!
Common side effects include feeling better, looking better, sleeping better, thinking better, moving better, and even eating better naturally! This creates a positive cycle, making it easy to be healthy and stay! With good baseline health, chronic health conditions will be prevented or reversed, resulting in de-prescription of medications.
Dr. Olivia Currie is an international board-certified lifestyle medicine doctor, fellow of the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine and fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners. She is the principal doctor and clinical director at Real Healthy Me.
